UPDN Orange - Metal Yoyo

Orange is a unique yo-yo created by the American brand Updn in collaboration with Andrew Bergen. After years of incremental improvements, Orange brings something genuinely fresh and unconventional to the yo-yo world. It quickly became one of the most talked-about releases of 2024.

Here's how Andrew Bergen describes Orange:

"It's the Orange! A big yo-yo, approximately the size of a large orange, or slightly smaller than a small grapefruit. It's big, it's weird, but it will make you play differently. The experience of using this yo-yo will change the way you think about your other yo-yos too. Its oversized design encourages bigger tricks while giving you a whole new appreciation for regular-sized yo-yos.

The concept comes from my 20 years of yo-yo experience (and a bit of neuroticism), while the technical design was created by Jameson Larkins of Throw Spiral. It features an anti-stick recess on the inside to reduce string snagging and is engineered to feel much lighter than it looks, almost as if it levitates on the string.

It might seem like a ridiculous idea, but as many surprised yo-yo players have said, it's "surprisingly playable."
